Mariusz Oszust, PhD, DSc, Eng., Associate Prof.
I received an MSc Eng. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Rzeszow University of Technology, in 2005, a PhD in Computer Science from the AGH University of Science and Technology, Krakow, in 2013, and a DSc degree in Computer Science from the Czestochowa University of Technology, Czestochowa, Poland, in 2019.
Currently, I am an Associate Professor and the Head of the Department of Computer and Control Engineering at Rzeszow University of Technology.
My main research interests broadly center around pattern recognition, with particular emphasis on image quality assessment, local feature descriptors, optimization algorithms, time series augmentation and classification, and sign language recognition. I have authored or co-authored over 50 high-quality journal papers (e.g., Knowledge-Based Systems, Information Sciences, Swarm and Evolutionary Computation, IEEE Signal Processing Letters, Engineering Applications of Artificial Intelligence, Magnetic Resonance in Medicine) and conference papers (e.g., NeurIPS), as well as a book and two patents. I serve as a Senior Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems for Video Technology (since 2026; Associate Editor since 2023) and as an Associate Editor for Signal, Image and Video Processing (since 2018), and I am a frequent reviewer for over 50 journals and conferences (including IEEE TCSVT, IEEE TIP, IEEE TMM, IEEE TNNLS, Knowledge-Based Systems, Neurocomputing, Applied Soft Computing, Information Sciences, Swarm and Evolutionary Computation, and NeurIPS).
